Bayern extend their lead at top of Bundesliga after comeback win against Stuttgart

Vincent Kompany's men now turn their attention to Bayer Leverkusen in the Champions League on Wednesday.

Bayern Munich beat Stuttgart 3:1 away in the opening match of the 24th round of the German First Bundesliga.

The hosts opened the scoring through Angelo Stiller in the 34th minute, but Vincent Kompany's men got a valuable equalizer late in the first half through Michael Olise. After the break, Bayern showed who was the superior of the two teams, scoring two more unanswered goals through Leon Goretzka and Kingsley Coman.

The Bavarian giants thus increased their lead at the top over champions Bayer Leverkusen to 11 points, before the Aspirins visit Eintracht Frankfurt later this evening. Stuttgart is seventh with 36 points.

Stuttgart face a visit from Holstein Kiel, while Bayern have a busy week ahead - a first-leg round of 16 clash with Leverkusen in the Champions League at the Allianz Arena on Wednesday, followed by a home game against Bochum in the Bundesliga on March 8. | BGNES
