Red Meat increases the risk of dementia

Sausages, smoked meats and other processed red meats increase the risk of dementia, warned neurologist Dylan Wint. His words were quoted by HuffPost.

Commenting on a study that found that frequent consumption of processed red meat increases the risk of dementia by 13 percent, Wint noted that doctors have long been wary of this product. According to him, experts recommend eating less of all red meat, not just processed. "To maintain brain health, it is recommended to consume no more than four servings of this product," the neurologist said.

Wint called red meat dangerous for the brain because of the fat it contains. When processed, it becomes even more harmful, the doctor believes, because chemical preservatives such as nitrites are added to it, which negatively affect brain function. Wint also warned that giving up sausages and smoked meats will not protect the brain 100 percent from dementia. He noted that to maintain mental clarity, it is important to eat a varied and balanced diet, eating more vegetables, cereals, legumes. “I would call physical activity the most powerful method for preventing dementia,” the neurologist concludes.

Previously, immunologist Amy Shah warned that uncontrolled use of diphenhydramine drugs increases the risk of dementia. According to her, the likelihood of developing the disease is higher with prolonged use. | BGNES
