The French Ministry of Finance and Economy is under investigation by anti-corruption officials regarding Neymar's transfer from Barcelona to Paris Saint-Germain in 2017, according to AFP.

Suspicions surround the possibility that the club received special tax advantages to facilitate the completion of the transfer. In the summer of 2017, Neymar became the most expensive footballer in history when PSG paid 222 million euros to Barcelona for the Brazilian star. This transfer marked a strategic move by PSG's new Qatari owners to build a star-studded team at the Parc des Princes, which later included players like Kylian Mbappe and Lionel Messi. However, despite these acquisitions, the club did not achieve the Champions League success they aimed for.

Last year Neymar left the French club for Saudi Al-Hilal, the latest world-famous footballer snapped up by the big-spending Saudi Pro League.

He will earn 100 million euros a season in Saudi Arabia, according to a source close to the negotiations, while PSG will pocket 100 million euros in the deal.
