London Fashion Week (LFW) kicked off with Harris Reed's ode to gender fluid designs, which celebrated non-binary romanticism. Reed, known for his theatrical creations, will showcase his label at the Tate Britain gallery. The 28-year-old designer, known for dressing Harry Styles and styling Lily Collins for Emily in Paris, is among the most exciting names on the autumn-winter 2025 calendar, AFP states.
Although several brands, including JW Anderson, are absent from LFW this season, the event will feature designers such as Erdem, Simone Rocha and Burberry, with rumours of changes at the helm of Burberry. LFW also introduces sustainability standards for emerging designers and continues to follow its environmental stance by banning the use of wild animal skins.
This year's LFW is shorter and with a reduced schedule, with many brands opting for alternative presentations due to the challenges facing British fashion, including Brexit and the pandemic. BFC director Caroline Rush, who is retiring after 16 years, stressed the importance of LFW for independent designers.
