Serbia's President: No room for "Maidan" in Serbia, the tractors of the protests are more than the people

Serbia's President Aleksandar Vucic said that "the Serbian people will not allow a Maidan".

"Wishes are one thing, reality is another. The people do not want a 'Maidan'. That's why their anger and nervousness is increasing, because they know that people don't want it. And that's why they have to try," Vucic said. He claimed that the other day in Novi Sad 53 people blockaded the entire city, adding that "the tractors outnumbered the people".

Contrary to his claim, there have been many thousands of protests over the past four months against his police-led, authoritarian regime.

Vucic indicated that his desire is for Serbia to be the strongest in Europe in terms of economic growth rate.

"That was our intention until irresponsible and frivolous people destroyed it without thinking about their country, thinking about their small, petty, private interests," he said.

The president went on to say that "a way has been found to defeat the colour revolution and that is why those who are carrying it out are becoming more and more nervous and that is why we are reaching radicalisation."

He claimed that the symbol of the protest, a bloody fist, appears in Tirana, but also in the Congress in Washington.

"These same bloody fists were used by activists who were fired by USAID, the same ones who financed the activities of the NGOs here and who together with them prepared, at least in part, what today we call the colour revolution", Vucic claims. | BGNES
